The Characteristic Change is Because Two Cars, a Number Plate

Car owners in Germany can apply for the new code changes. This allowed two vehicles of the same EU vehicle class are driven alternately with only one license plate. With the switch plate, for example, two cars, two vintage cars or motorcycles operated two - the combination of car / motor home is possible. The change indicator is then allocated for both vehicles, but may only be performed at one of the two. Until now, such cases only the possibility of both cars separately register for the full year, to sign one of the vehicles for a limited period with a season mark.

The changes mark consists of six parts: For each car there are two additional small plates that are mounted front and rear set. The actual main characteristic is changed as needed. Important: The change in each indicator can be assigned only for two vehicles of a vehicle (see table below), which also must use the same code size. The most common combinations are likely to be changing, according to ADAC automobile cars, vintage cars, car and motorbike motorcycle camper. Unallocated changes are characteristics associated with seasonal license plates, red marks, temporary license plate, authorities characteristics and export license.

Beantragt werden kann das Wechselkennzeichen bei den örtlichen Zulassungsstellen. Laut ADAC fallen dabei Kosten von etwa 100 Euro an – rund 65 Euro als Zulassungsgebühr und etwa 40 für die Kennzeichen selbst. Teuer werden kann es übrigens, wenn Halter vergessen, das Kennzeichen zu wechseln. Wer ohne vollständiges Wechselkennzeichen unterwegs ist, dem droht nach Angaben des Bundesverkehrsministeriums ein Bußgeld in Höhe von 50 Euro. Ein Bußgeld von 40 Euro kann außerdem fällig werden, wenn das Fahrzeug, das gerade nicht in Benutzung ist, auf öffentlichen Straßen parkt. Ohne Hauptkennzeichen darf das Fahrzeug nur auf privatem Gelände abgestellt werden – andernfalls kann zusätzlich auch der Versicherungsschutz gefährdet sein.
